Speedometer ratio update
Just a quick update on the adapter. I had ordered it last friday and got it on monday! I put it on and drove around some to see if it would leak. This morning I had a chance to check it's accuracy against our van and it was right on:) Still no leaks so I guess it was a success.(although a little pricey)
The method I used to determine the ratio was just have my wife set the cruise at 55 and see what my speedo read (81). Then I divided 55 by 81 and got .679. Ordered a .68 reducer and now my speedometer is correct. Happy Motoring Boyd:flag: |
Great that you resolved your speedometer problem.
How much did you end up paying for the reducer and the gear? Do you have part numbers?, I think I have the same problem. Was it easy to change out? |
sounds like mine is off the exact same amount. more info please

The components are made by SS White(800-779-4483) but you can't deal directly with them. They gave me a buisness in my area. Leach Enterprise www.leach-ent.com Ph. No. 815-459-6917.I called them and gave the ratio .68 in my case, and the input shaft dimension, .105" I think that is standard for our trucks.
This is a very easy install. All you do is remove the speedometer cable from the side of the transmission and the reducer goes inbetween the cable and the plug the driven speedo gear is in. Quick and easy but cost about $80 This is a custom made part so no part numbers. It is however adjustable, by getting different gears, if you needed to. Hope this helps. Boyd:flag: |
