"just a shop truck"
Well I've finally made time to start my project I bought 3 years ago.. I've been a member on here for a little over 3 years,watching others trucks take shape and not to mention reading street trucks.. My daily 40hr grind and working at night at the garage,there was no time for my own stuff! So I guess it just came down to me not taking anything on and starting on my truck! It's just hard to say no to paying customers that help fund the project and pay for the roof over the garage.. I hope everyone enjoys the build,also criticism and suggestions.......

Once it was the shop,the static drop wasn't enough obviously... So I pulled the static parts,and not long after the wheels had to go!! Then it sat on jack stands for a year and came time for me to have open heart surgery. Needless to say it got delayed yet again,but from the hospital bed I was able to sell the static parts and purchase 20" centerline smoothies...

then it ended up sitting for months again... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few days or steps but,just stoked to get it started and get some advice.. But here's my current stage and a pic of the porterbuilt goodies courtesy of nate..

And don't you love how plans change in the middle of everything.. When the short fleet was in idle and parts sitting around,I bought a 67 stepside. It was a locally owned hardware shops truck since new and came with all original paperwork. The truck was a 3spd 250 with 28k on the clock,and was a running driving truck for the most part. So I decided to make the 72 patina shop truck a stepside and future plans on a super clean 67 shorty fleet! Oh and the shop truck wasn't going to get notched,but once i decided to go the stepside direction It had to lay rockers.. Cause its not super common to see the steps on the pavement..

Awesome build!!! I love the wheels and the PB goodies! I'm guessing that truck used to be a long bed? I noticed the roof lights on the cab. Maybe a C20 or 30. Are you going to run some caps on those wheels Delmo style? Very nice:chevy:

Just noticed the caps in post #4, Duh. How did you attach them? I think Delmo uses caps from the '50s trucks with the hub cap clips.

Thanks va... As far as the answer to your question rust bucket,yes I'm going to run centers.. I admit borrowing the idea from delmo,and I actually saw it a couple years ago on a tan 60-66 he did. It's became a lot more popular since then,just shows you how fast times change and if you let your parts sit round in boxes for years you'll fall behind.. But i'm sure he created a classic look that won't ever get played out,definitly better than torque thrust by far... Thanks delmo

Oh yea the cab lights,I do think the cab was off something bigger and the truck was redone possibly but it is a true short bed chassis. It's almost a perfect cab minus the little corner/rocker work which ill post up once I get into the body work! I'm seriously considering keeping the cab lights since its going to b a patina shop truck? Send me some opinions on the cab lights guys,keep em or shave em..

Got a couple deliveries this week,came home from work and it was better than Christmas.. First pic is of porterbuilt crossmember,art control arms and mustang 2 rack all parts courtesy of npilot... And the other trailing arms and crossmember from nate,now I have parts for a future project... That's what happens when u change your mind in the middle..

Managed to get some time this weekend to get the stock front suspension off and get the dropmember / tubular arms on.. It still looks very accomplishing even though it has to come back off,just needed it on to set my ride height to get the 4link welded on.. Then i'm pulling it all back apart to powder-coat suspension components and finish shaving and smoothing the frame..

I also made another purchase this week,83 crew cab 2wd 4spd 454 dually.. Couldn't say no for $500,drove it home and it will be my future hauler project! The dream is machined down semi wheels,12v cummins and bags of course..
