Shallow Poineer Sub Sale

I don't know what these normally cost, but I figured I'd share the knowledge at least. Sonicelectronix.com is have a back to school sale and the 10" 2 Ohm shallow Pioneer subs are on sale for $99 a pop. I buy most of my equipment from them and have never had an issue. They do free shipping and no tax if you're not in Cali.

Here's the link: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-SW2501S2.html

It doesn't say when the sale ends, so I hope it's a good deal for anyone looking.

How do you mount these? Is your tank still in cab? Under seat or on top of the tank somehow? Just curious... I think these look great (and cheap!) and am wiring up a sound system to replace my am radio and blown 4x10!!!

Re: Shallow Poineer Sub Sale

You'd need to build an enclosure for it, but it's shallow enough to fit under a typical bench Seat if you have a stock tank.

I bought a set... I have to have music... It is a stock tank... looks like I am going to be doing some research on speaker enclosures! I know nothing about electronics...

Those are really solid subs, too. I put four 8's behind the extra cab seat in a Ram and only had to move the seat forward a half inch. They hit well.

My wife would kill me if she knew I bought speakers, etc... now I probably need an amp... I have a cheap amp.. a Lazar? 211, maybe, 360 watt deal... 2 channel... not sure what to do for highs and mids... I have a guy who can get me good deals on stuff, too... I just need a plan... I don't need thumping bass... I listen to punk music, a lot of singer-songwriter stuff... not DJ Magic Mike... I just need depth and volume!

What size did you get?

8 or 10 for rock (what I listen to), these don't need a ton of power. Find out how much power the amp you have now is (rating RMS and load in ohms) and we can go from there.

I am a master at building cheap ass systems that rock your face off.

Nice!... I got the 10s.... I sold my old Phenix (sp?) Gold amp last summer that I had ten years ago at a yard sale... I kick myself for that now... I will look at the Lanzar amp and report back to you later when I am home... Guidance is welcome! Especially since I want my, er, "face rock(ed) off."...:metal:

I don't consider myself an expert, but I have build some pretty incredible systems on a shoe string budget. I will have about $800 into mine and I feel like I am spending a million bucks.

I know guys like Dino drop $3k on a system and don't even thing twice about it.

Re: Shallow Poineer Sub Sale

Mine (kinda in flux):
Tablet: $250
Amp: $300
Subs: $120
Wires and whatnot: $100ish

So yeah, about $800. My mids and highs I've had in a box since about 2007, so they are LONG paid for.

<edit> It's in flux because I can't decide if I want to put my audio gear in the Corvette "for now" or build a separate system. It's only money, right?

That's hard to say, for me... I have three kids 6 and under... I will have to make my shoestring a bit thinner than $800.00!

I just need to have a plan and time to shop...

Mine is outrageous for $800. The setup I was looking to do in the Vette is $350 if I keep the Bose, $500 if I lose it. Subs, amps, source and/or speakers. For $350 it will rock balls.

<edit> The pawn shop has a pair of Fosgate 10's with a Kicker 500W amp for $100. Add a $100 deck, $15 install kit, $50 Bose intrface and I could be rocking for less than $350 this weekend.

I've never heard of that amp, so I can't really say...did you ever get the details of the amp you already have?

For budget sake, I'd see if that amp will work and look to purchase r an amp to run your highs.

Re: Shallow Poineer Sub Sale

It is a bridgeable 2 channel LANZAR VIBE 211 360 watts... I think it is too small... I entertained the idea of having it power kick panels and a modern 4x10 dash speaker and getting something else to push the tens... maybe i am overshooting on all this though... I looked up the Craigslist amp on Crutchfield and it is highly reviewed (for what it is...) but I, like you, don't know it...

Re: Shallow Poineer Sub Sale

Actually, I think you're going in the right direction here. Does the lanzar have a cross over to cancel the bass? If so, it's a good candidate for the highs...but leave out the 4x10...just run the kicks.

I tend to rely pretty heavily on reviews of products on reputable sites such as Crutchfield...but with you buying 2) 2 Ohm speakers, that Profile amp isn't a good choice. You are only going to be able to wire the subs at either a 1 or 4 ohm load. I'd lean towards wiring it at a 4 ohm load so I'd be looking for an amp with about 600 watts RMS @ 4 ohms...this way you're getting 300 watts to each speaker. The profile would more than likely only be putting 125 watts to each speaker at 4 ohms.

Here's a list of amps sorted by price on sonicelectronics:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...rder=price_asc

Look for an amp with around 600W RMS @ 4 ohms. This site has a lot of reviews, but also check other site's reviews on the same product before pullin the trigger. In a truck you don't need much to get a good sounding system, but it's always best to get the best bang for the buck!
