interior color for a black truck?
 

Well I have my 70 4x4 in the paint shop now and should be done in a couple weeks. All my of my other old trucks I've went with black interior [dash pad, seat, door panels] but this is the first time painting a truck black. It just seems like too much to go black inside and would like some color but not real big contrast like white would be. What are some good choices? I remember seeing red once on here and maybe blue, any suggestions? I want to stay with all stock type peices so colors that are being reproduced can be used.

Black on black works very well in the upper trim levels. White was not a true white but still kind of stark. The 624 gold vinyl would look great but is not reproduced. So of the remaining colors green would be really good choice. It was avaliable and is rarely seen. Saddle works very well if you like brown interiors. Blue is another option and more common than green. Red is probably the second choice behind black for most black trucks, too common. Sorry but I just don't like red.

Well I love red interiors myself, but I think some sort of tan also looks pretty good with black.

In my pea brain, black, red, or parchment is just about all that looks "just about right" in a black truck. But the other colors mentioned certainly make one unique. My pers favorite is red in a black truck, but that's just me. My favorite interior combo in ANYthing is a red vehicle with a red interior. I don't know why...

I actually think I would like to do a dark brown, like a dark bomber jacket leather. with that style grain in the material. it would be off norm for me at least.

white is very hard to keep clean but sure is sharpe, you could always put some of the clear vinyl covers on it like back in the day

If I ever redo a black truck, I'm strongly leaning that direction. Tried buying the one I referenced in that thread that was an original black w/ saddle interior truck, but it was gone before I could get up to Seattle.

WOW. I NEVER would have guessed black/saddle looked so good. That looks incredible. (But I'd still opt for red... :))

When these trucks were ordered from the factory, you could mix/match to your hearts content. If you wanted a red exterior with a green interior...you could do it.

But, I also agree that black exterior with red interior is hard to beat and was my personal plan. The issue becomes one about the color of the metal on the interior. If the upholstery is red, what color is the metal supposed to be? I have a friend who is the original purchaser of a '67 that is silver/white with a red interior. All of his interior metal is red. Later models had the metal painted body color. Both look good.

Ya, I was pretty blown away by that color combo when I saw it. It just looked classy to me.... I love black/red as well. Can't really go wrong there.

A pic I saved a couple of years ago. I do not know who it belongs to but I think tan looks good with black too. This obviously a later model pattern, seat and door panels. Just for a look at the color for you.

RED!.......I am doing a red interior on my 68 SWB and a patina exterior, but the exterior will eventually be black.

But I did see a Black 55 with Gray interior at a show last month that made me wonder...

I like black on black and the red really makes a truck look Sporty! I chose saddle for my black truck and think it came out pretty good. If I ever do another black truck I think I would go with green...I never would have thought it would look good till I saw it.

my "french" choice would be Red - seems to be the best choice.
but I think you might put some black details in order not ot be TOOOO RED.

mine is red and white with black interior, but red is also there on all visible panels as you can see.
would like to change the carpet, but don't know black or red.

well im thinking either red or saddle, ive been looking at the catalogs and some list saddle and some list brown for seats and dash pads and such. is there a difference?

Dug up a picture of a blue interior in a black truck. Saddle and brown are pretty much interchangeable, but I would try to get the seat covers and vinyl covered door panels from the same vendor. If you have a question about a color get samples!
