here's the start of my project it's a 66 short bed step side with a 230 inline 6
speed on the floor.
iv'e been on this board for a few month's and have bought quite a few parts from members here.

not real sure what im doing dont think im going go real low. i know i want it to be able to drive to some crusie in car shows and go to some rod run,s with just have fun with it.
when i bought the truck it started run's and drives i;m bee driving it out in my field a little.
i have a quired all body parts from a different rust free cab, drivers door,radiator support,grill support and both fron fenders, the onlt parts i need now are some bed parts,

well i pulled the bed off and removed the rusted out rear shock cross member
and look what i found not good .
whats the best way to repair this area,

Whoa!!! Never seen the frame rusted out in that area kn these trucks. Id cut out the rusted metal and make some patches for the frame. One part at a time

Cut it out, grind back till you hit good metal and bend up a piece using the other side of the frame as a jig and weld it in. I would also hit with a sandblaster and maybe even box it in.

If it's mainly the bottom rail, just use flat stock. I would blast it to see what else is punky. Trailing arms could use a good blasting too to see how they look. Like eating an elephant......just one bite at a time.

lol on eating a elephant.yes it's only on the lower frame rail.
i already have some different trailing arms mine were totally gone.i bought them from a member on here.

im going to have the frame bead blasted and powder coated and will some how fix this area and all other bad areas.i will also do some cross bracing for a possable high horse power engine combo.
i'm a drag racer so you just cant have enough power lol.
i'll post more photo's as my project continue's. right now heading to the
us nationals a friend of mine drive's a top fuel dragster so going to go hang on with terry hope it doesnt get rained out.
