89 454 tbi problems and ?'s

Ok so here goes nothing.

Having problems with it running rich. At first I thought the injectors were suppose to spray constant but now I have read they should pulse.

Iac good map good tps good. My injectors spray a good pattern they just spray all the time with no pulsing except during cranking.

Can someone help me out.

Mine don't really seem to pulse either, unless it's very slight. On cold start I can smell fuel from 50 feet away it's so rich. But truck runs all right so I've just let it ride. I have cell phone video of it but can't post.

The pulse is constant and quick, it almost appears continous but it is detectable if you stare at it. I would check the O2s and install a 3 wire (pre-heated) if you don't have one.

The o2 sensor is one code it's throwing cause I have a leak in the manifold causing air to be sucked in and the sensor to read lean. Found that out about 3 hours ago when a ses light came on. Found crack after it cooled down.

I have a bad temp sensor on the front of my block on my '88 chevy TBI motor. Would cause it to stay running rich n kinda high idle thinking that it needed more fuel then it actually did. Might be worth a shot its easy and cheap. Its the sensor in the very front of the intake that threads into it. Have you ever messed with the timing on it before?

No I haven't messed with timing. I did replace the temp sensor but it was closer to the front of the engine than than how u described it.

Can someone send me the firing order of the cylinders in case I replace cap and rotor etc. really considering a carb swap with long tube headers.

The firing order and rotation are cast into most factory intakes for future reference.

18436572 clockwise, the #1 plug wire is USUALLY located on the cap closest to the front to the passenger side. The driver's side cylinders are 1,3,5,7 from front to back, passenger's side 2,4,6,8.
