Whats the problem?
Lately my key switch has been giving me trouble, i turn it to start and nothing happens, wiggle the steering wheel a little or simply try it again and it starts. This morning i went to start it and nothing happens, like my battery was dead, brand new battery, alternator, everything in spec. Tried to jump it with no luck, finally out of frustration i slam the door and slam the hood, going to jump into a different ride, and decided to give it one last try, turn the key and miracleously it starts without a hitch, what gives?

Re: Whats the problem?
Sounds like a Ford... Seriously though, I had the same issue years ago and it turned out being the ignition switch. That's where I'd start, they're cheap too.

Re: Whats the problem?
Top two things, either somehow you ignition switch is only working when it wants or maybe solenoid? I know I had a bad solenoid and if I tried to start it after it was running a while it would do nothing, might not be that though because you said it was in the morning so I assume it was the first start of the day.

Re: Whats the problem?
try jumping the solenoid with the ign. in run

Re: Whats the problem?
Tilt wheel or standard column? If its a tilt try cranking it with the tilt either all the way up or all the way down. The actual ignition switch probably needs adjusting at the base of the column. The rod may be pulling it but just not far enough.

Re: Whats the problem?
I hope it is your ignition switch or solenoid. I tried replacing those when I had those symptoms and it turned out I needed an upper steering column rebuild - I had it professionally done for many $$$.

Re: Whats the problem?
If it was your solenoid wouldn,t you still have power for lights and dash ans such but know fire? That is the way it always was on my Olds Cutlass with a small block Chevy. Had power to light eveything up but wouldn't crank the engine.
