I am about to burn my truck!!!
Hey guys, my most recent project is an 87 CCDRW that i swapped a cummins into, with a 5 speed.
Anyways, the other day I went to town and while I was gone the truck got rained in, when I got in it to drive it the windsheild wipers went about halfway, stopped, and now when I turn on the wipers the blinker indicators light up and the fuel gauge goes to empty. Also, when i turn on the headlights all my gauges go whacko... When I first finished the swap it didnt do this, If I unplug the wipers off the cowl then the lights dont come on the dash. Ive checked all chassis grounds, replaced the ignition switch, tried a different column, nothing works. Please help with any ideas you might have before I go start a bonfire |
Re: I am about to burn my truck!!!
It sounds like a ground issue to me also. If all grounds are good then check every fuse. I have seen the radio and interior lights go crazy when there was a blown horn fuse. Not kidding. The blown fuse caused ground seeking issues. When you pressed the horn button the interior lights would light up.
Don't burn it. Sounds like a cool truck. Frank Posted via Mobile Device |

Same check all the grounds
fuses take your cluster apart and let it sit in our TEXAS heat lol maybe it has some water in it |
Re: I am about to burn my truck!!!
Same happened to mine when water got in the engine and on the fuseblock....Let it dry out and all worked...Only had to replace the wiper switch

Re: I am about to burn my truck!!!
Well, all fuses checked out okay. When I pull the courtesy light fuse, my dash acts normal. Getting frustrated

Re: I am about to burn my truck!!!
You may still have water somewhere. Since the dome light wiring runs on the floor at the left side, start bychecking there. You probably have a chafed wire there that shorted when it got wet.
