Adjusting one barrel carb on inline 6
Hey guys, I have been looking for how to properly adjust my one barrel carb on my 78 K-10. The truck is all original and I think everything is stock. I see an adjustment screw at the base that has a pin right above it that I believe had a plastic piece on at one time to prevent you from changing the adjustment. I have moved it around a bit but haven't noticed too much change. Searched the web but have yet to find adjustment procedure.
Secondly, if I set the electric choke so that it is just wide open when hot, when I try to start the engine cold, it will not start unless I move the adjustment to close the choke more, but then it will be on too much when hot......do the bimetal springs wear out? I checked this one and after a couple minutes it had moved a bit so I figured it was working. Hopefully this makes sense and someone can help me figure this out. The choke pull off is working and I think I understand it's purpose. It's almost like I need a bimetal spring that moves more than mine does. Anyways hope someone can point me in the rt direction. |
