coil shock springs add-on

I have a 1957 swb stock front end, 454ci, just installed the sway bars, new shocks, and now I would like to put coil springs on the shocks to prevent the front end bottoming out when I hit a dip.
The driver side shock will not accommodate a coil spring because it hits the steering knuckle (if that is what it is called), in other words there is not enough clearance between the knuckle and the spring clamps if they were installed. There is not enough distance on the lower part of the shock to raise the clamp above the knuckle because the upper dust cover comes down that far.
Does anyone have an adapter for the shock mount so that I could move the lower shock mount forward?
The passenger side will fit just fine when I cut the spring down. Would there be a problem if just the passenger side had a spring coil on the shock?
I believe there would, however, what is your opinion?
Thanks,
Larry

those springs wont help much with that big block I think they are more for rear shocks for overload. Putting one on the pas. side would not be a good thing either. I'd be checking into new springs/ rearched or at least maybe a helper or slow down a bit for the bumps.

You can get helper springs that sit on the axle and fit between the axle and frame that should not cause any interference with the steering or shocks. The best way would be to either add a leaf or two to your current springs or buy new ones. Definitely don't put a helper on one side unless you want to ride leaning over.

Would look better with an extra leaf added to the spring pack instead of the coil overs clamped in place.

Also dont they still make actual overload coilover shocks you could just buy?

What about a bag over leaf set-up with schrader valves? Usally ran on the rear for towing.
