Putting a plow on my 77 Chevy
I'm looking at putting on a Boss plow, either the standard duty or super duty, 90# difference, problem is Boss does not make a mount for this year, the oldest they have is 79 and newer. Question is did they change the frame width or some other configuration in 79?

I believe they changed in the early 80's. 77-79 is the same body, Im sure it'll work.

That's what I'm thinking too, any other owners with plows on their 73-79 trucks that can share their set-ups? Boss seems to be highly regarded, wondered if their are any other ones I should take a look at.

sorry cant help with that year truck but I thought the frames were the same except for the horn on the front?
boss plows are awesome! I have two boss superduty's and 3 hiniker scoop blades both are great but the hydraulics on the boss are much faster. |
Re: Putting a plow on my 77 Chevy
We use the old 7'6" Western Pro Plows. Not very cool, but fully functional. We have one on a '78 GMC.

We used to just throw an extra leaf in your front leaf pack and never had any issues. The biggest issue you should have is pushing wet heavy snow, the weight of the bigger axles makes a difference. Just make sure you clear the snow before it gets too deep any you will be fine, guys push snow with jeeps wrangles here sometimes.
