Block mounts for V8
 

Does anyone know where I can buy the mounts that go on the block for a V8? I am converting from a V6 to a V8 on my 94 and the only thing I can find are the rubber part that goes on the frame. I am needing the Cradle that goes mounted to the block. Worst case I will go to U pull it but to pull an engine just to get them is a pain.

junkyards or ebay, they are pretty much the same ones that have been used for years.

Just hit the core pile at the local pick a part. You're bound to find saddles on many small or big blocks laying around. That is where I got the saddles for a 4.3L to 7.4L swap I did a few months ago. No need to pull an engine to get them.

I was able to get a set today form a local Junkyard. I got them for $25. Ever since we got a Upull it here I have the idea that other junkyards are going to be expensive since they pull the part. I called one just to see the price and $25 sounded good especially since it was already pulled. I can now move forward with the swap next week.

Good deal. As you probably already know you have a lot of work in front of you. Going from a V6 to a V8 in the GMT400 trucks is a huge hassle as the front control arms must be dropped in order gain access to the bottom nuts on the frame mounted engine mounts. This is even a bigger hassle if you are working on a 4x4 with torsion bars. What a big giant PITA! :lol:

That is what I have read. As far as taking them off I will use a air hammer and just slice them off. I have heard some guys say that with the right swivel you can get in there with out removing the arm. Either way it will be an adventure.

I thought of that too but it looked like it would eat more time in the long run to reinstall the lower nuts through the little space when the control arm is in place, if even possible.
