Fuel gauge help
Got a aftermarket gauge set with 230 empty 30 full. My factory avalanche sending unit is 30 empty 230 full. Anybody cot a clue how to use the stock one?

Re: Fuel gauge help
Well I have seen resistors (if sized properly) or an adjustable potentiometer used to change the input voltage from the sending unit so it reads right at the gauge, however since you have the need to invert the voltage sweep, I don't think that would do the whole job.

Turn the float arm around....
You will need a new longer float arm (Auto Meter has extra long float arms). Measure the float arm from the center of the sender to the center of the float. Cut the float arm about 2" from the sender. Install the new long float arm facing the other direction using steel or aluminum chrimp terminals, Make sure it is the same length center to center. The Fuel sender will now operate backwards;) I made a crude drawing....Hope it helps |
