Another driveshaft question!
What do I have to do to put a 1 piece driveshaft in my 70 SWB w/350/350? Is there a GM driveshaft I can buy, or do I need to have one made?
It'll probably be easiest to just have one custom made. I had one made for my setup, ran me about $250. Made perfect for my truck/drivetrain combo
krue, it might be cheaper to find a one piece from a 4x4, and have it shortened to the correct length. That would only require two cuts, one weld, and balance.
Anybody know how long a driveshaft I need?
not sure on length, but you should look at chev vans too.
If you have the engine in the stock location, and a short shaft TH350, you'll need a 4 foot 10 inch shaft.
Measure your's... center of front u-joint cap to center of rear.
Me?
Mine is 4 foot 10 inches. |
Check wrecking yards. I found one in a 68 behind a Saginaw 4speed.
Try a chevy caprice/impala stationwagon.
I used one from a chevy car for my 68 shortbox fleet truck. It was just the right length. Sorry though I cannot remember for the life of me which car I pulled it out of though and I have long since sold that truck. I would take the length you need and hit the salvage yards in search of one, you might get lucky.
