Starting on Ol Blue'.... Heres my thread.

Ok... Purchased the truck about 3 months ago and I am really getting into these 67-72 trucks. I did however buy the truck with many things already done. I stole it for cheap and figured I would change some items and make it my own! I don't want to drive down the street and people say "thats mike's old truck but that Weev guy bought it".

I have been deciding what I want to do and ended up gutting most of the interior today and really starting to get a heads start on my "build"... if you can call it that.

Side note: I am pure novice when it comes to working on cars and usually had a shop do most of my work. Now with this truck I am doing almost all of it by myself and if I sound like an idiot... its because I don't know what the hell I'm doing.. haha.

Enjoy... please feel free to comment away.. I will be adding as the days and months go by and things change.

However there are things wrong that you couldn't see in the pics.

Carpet is mediocre and could use a change... come scratches in the dash... I hate the steering wheel... column steering could use a paint/parts change/tilt.

Gas tank needs a sending unit...

Want to dynomat the floors and change the cab mounts... new gauge cluster... thats just the interior items, not the chassis/motor but we will get to that later!

That comes to my point... I am gutting the interior and figuring out what needs to be done.

Re: Starting on Ol Blue'.... Heres my thread.

Gas tank was just dusty and dirty. Beleive it or not its the original tank. Still nice and shiny because of that AZ truck. Gotta love a place with no salt or snow.

Grant steering wheel was pulled out and so was the seats, carpet, kick panels.

Wanting to powercoat all the pedals and seat brackets and clean up that floor!

That isn't rust... its glue and carpet fibers everywhere! Need to take a wire brush and some goo gone to it.

I am wanting to seal the floor with a rust proofer of some kind and then dynomat everything before I put in the new carpet.

That birds nest is another story..... eeeeew!

They put in a painless wiring kit but I don't see the painless anywhere... there is extra wire and crimps/splices everywhere!

I got a good amount of time to clean up those wires.

Also where did these three holes in the floor come from? They appear factory and were just covered up with the carpet. I need to get them grommented in before I seal the floor.. wierd...

Heres another pic of the whole floor also.

Lets pull out that steering column...

After I got it out it has some olive green to it on the bottom. Must have came out of another Chevy at some time. Can't wait to get a tilt one in here. I am a lil guy and it feels like a semi with that wheel so high in the air. haha.

if it were mine I would also move gas tank while working in that area, and since yours is in need of a sending unit buy 1 for the new tank then sell original to help funding

I'd lower it more and get rid of the bling wheels. Be like a totally different truck . Looks nice

Wow, LOTS of wires, no kidding! I don't think those holes in your floor are suppose to be there. If it were mine, I'd raise it back to factory spec.

Yeah I want to drop it at least another inch in back and front. I'm actually gonna get rid of the wheels next year or so and go for a different look.

Haha! I think I'll keep it low for now. :)

I wonder if those holes were from the old heater before they put in the vintage air kit?

Ya, the wires.... Tisk tisk, gotta dig into them soon.

LOL, thats a hell of a lot nicer truck to start with than most. Good luck and I completely understand the "painless harness" I renamed it the "Painful Harness" just completely redid mine. I do however love the painless wire wraps they have available for that kit..It really cleans things up...if you dont relocate your gas tank let me know I just removed a new tank and new sending unit from my wifes when I relocated it.

Thanks! I might do that... I don't mind the tank behind my butt. I'm a shorty anyways. I'm also gonna look up the painless wraps to help clean it up.

I got some more work done over the last few days... No more gauge cluster, pulled out the emergency brake because I found a NOS one to put in there. Also been working at the glue on the floor... its a pain for sure.

Then started messing with the wiring... took out enough for a Walmart sack full... its gonna take a few more days easy in there.

Swapped out the rear drums and shoes. The Wagner Thermoquiet seemed like really nice shoes and heard great reviews about them.
