My 69 C10 shift linkage locks up sometimes
I have a 69 C10, 3 on the tree. Occasionally, whether downshifting or upshifting, my linkage will lockup (naturally only at a stop with vehicles behind me), and I have to turn off the engine, get out, raise the hood and pull up one of the 2 linkages on the column. If I'm attentive to shifting, I can go months without this happening, but, sometimes I just want to shift without babying it. It's always been a little stiff going from gear to gear, but, I think this is not normal, duh. And there should be a procedure for adjusting this, right?

First thing you need to do us make sure the linkages have the rubber bushings on them -both top and bottom at the trans linkages. Then you need to adjust them properly.
Check this writeup to see if it helps.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=215307 |

Looks like the bushings are there, but wobbly. The link is excellent, thanks, I'll be able to fix it from that.

Re: My 69 C10 shift linkage locks up sometimes
I learned to drive on a 69 c10 3 on the tree , I have never had problem ? My 67 shifts perfect for me but if anybody else drives it it hangs up ? I let my girlfriend drive my truck in the lowes parking lot she made it about 40 feet and hanged up the gears lol , you may need to practice you may not actually have anything wrong mechanically
