I need help understanding exhaust donut gasket.

I recently installed a carbed 350 in my 94 that had a 4.3 liter. I purchased headers that were a replacment on a 5.7 liter for a 94. I am going to use my stock exhaust from the 4.3. I heard that it should bolt up to the V8. I went earlier to buy new exhaust donuts. The size they sold me fits good on the y pipe but it does not fit on the header. I am assuming that the donut lip should fit inside of the hole on the header? Is this correct. The donut is to big to fit in the hole. I never payed much attention how it would fit on the V6. Basiclly should the donut stay on the manifold/header and then you put the y pipe on then bolt it? Thanks in advance. Pics would be appreciated if you have them.

Thanks Dragginmetal. I guess the issues I am having is the inside diameter on the header is smaller then the opening on the donut. I guess i will go over to napa to see if they have somthing that will fit.

I went over to Napa to try to find a gasket. According to the guy behind the counter he said with the setup that I have I don't need a gasket. It's built into the header. I then came home to look up that info and that is what I am finding. For those of you that have used these headers is it true that you did not use a gasket? The link below is like the headers that I purchased.

Sorry Dragginmetal I may have not given you enough info earlier about the collector on the header.

No problem. All that matters is you get it fixed.

from the pics of your headers it looks like you do not need anything else just bolt them up and you should be in business

you dont use gaskets with the ball and socket style. i have the same headers no gasket used at y pipe. thats one of the main reasons i went with em

mine didnt bnolt up to y pipe though :( thought there were soposed to but guess not. i had to cut the pipe because it was spaced over too far like the headers tuck closer to block and i cant get the pipe to seal to y pipe worth a poo
