Door Panels (interchangeable?)

The 81-87 door panels are not the most attractive..Is it possible to use different years on my 84?
Suggestions or comments appreciated.. My winter project is to clean up the interior. I have about 5 different colors now...lol

Brown seat belts, door panels, visors
New black dash
Red carpet
Darker red seat
All the steel is silver (including the roof)

You have two other choices...

There is the 77-80 style, and the late r/v series suburban that was slightly different up through 1991...

The 73-76 would require different doors...

Also remember the panels looked slightly different between trim levels, ie custom deluxe vs silverado...

For example, this was one of a set I sold a couple weeks back, but came from a 1990 conversion package suburban. The difference between this panel and a normal suburban of that age is that they made the insert vinyl instead of velour cloth, but the layout and woodgrain trim would be the same:

Looks like it was probably for a power seat control, since the Sub was a conversion. Suck place to put it, though.

I have a pair of 85 Suburban buckets in really good shape...Can't wait to mock them up to see how they fit.
Anybody ever try dying a seat? They are gray and I want to go with black.

Vinyl or cloth? Ive heard of varying success with dying seats, continual use of the drivers seat from getting in and out wears the color off.

Get them recovered. Your never going to be happy with dyed cloth.

That's what I figured..
The new seatcovers that I see listed on the various web sites (lmc, brothers etc..) don't say anything about the armrests. Do they come with new covers for them? I would think they would have to be sewed on somehow.

Local shop said around $350.00 to cover each..Ouch
