Weekend Junkyard score
1 Attachment(s)
Managed to pick this up @ the local pick and pull on Saturday for $ 27.00. I pulled it out of a 75' K10 with a 350/SM465 set up. I thought it was a good deal considering I almost missed this in a truck I had pulled some parts off of on my way out. I should have pulled the whole harness out to re-wire my 82' to make this work.

Sounds like a good deal to me, I still pop my head in every square body at the junkyard just on the off chance there's a tac dash in it.

Re: Weekend Junkyard score
You do not need to re-wire the harness. You'll (probably) have to move several pins on the main connector that plugs into instrument cluster. The main problem that I see is that 75 used charging amp-meter vs. voltmeter used on 76 and up. IFIK it is possible to transplant a volt meter from a later cluster into 75 cluster, but this may require some harness re-work. Another possibility is to get a 76 and up PCBA and install later model gauges. IRC tachometer is a standalone module.
I would get the two wiring harness diagrams (75 and 82) side by side and make a list of changes to make it work. I have 75 factory wiring diagram supplement - let me know if you need a scan copy. //RF |

OK - give me a day to drag it to the office scanner - copier.

Re: Weekend Junkyard score
Careful of putting a 73-75 cluster in 76-91 trucks. They have an ammeter and it will cause a fire if you're not careful.
