Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
You could probably pull it off with a 3rd row suburban seat. You'd have to cut the floor and weld in the anchor points from a suburban so the seat could hook in. Figuring out a safe seatbelt mounting point would probably be your most difficult task. I imagine welding in seat belt anchors from a suburban would also be your best bet. Look for a pre-89, and then you don't have to worry about shoulder belts.

Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
I would use another Blazer seat that matches the one you already have. I don't know how much foot room you'd have in back, but you know the width would be perfect. If it's a model that latches to the floor and will flip up out of the way you'll keep room for cargo. You'll need to drop the tank to reinforce the backside of the floor for seat mounts and seat belt mounts. That should be a pretty easy job.

Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
IIRC, the blazer and suburban use exactly the same third row seat, just with different latches bolted to the bottom. The suburban uses the hook and claw style seat which can be completely removed, where the blazer uses a hinge style mount that allows it to fold forwards.

Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
The Blazer seat has arm rests built into the seat. I thought the 3rd Sub seat didn't have those?

Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
As far as I know, all the burb 3rd row seats had arm rests up until '92. The '86, '85, and '90 3rd Row seats that I've had all looked like this:
http://imageshack.us/a/img100/2067/burbseat.jpg There are threads on here about unbolting the burban hooks, bolting on the blazer hinges, and dropping them in the 2nd row slot of a blazer. Should be able to transfer the hook mounts over from any burb and add these as a 3rd row in a blazer, it will just take a little cutting and welding on the floor pans. |

Good to know! I haven't had a square burb yet, obviously. Just a handful of K5's and later Burb's.

Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
A long time ago I put in a third row seat in our 2000 Isuzu Trooper. Well, what do you know, they are still available!
It looks like they off one for the 80's style suburban that might work for the Blazer too. Mine had a big, flat piece of plate metal that attached to the floor and bottom side of the sheetmetal. The seat was also foldable and removable. Here is the site: http://www.littlepassengerseats.com/trooper.html If I can get into my photobucket account, I'll post up some additional pics...... |
Re: 3rd row seat in a blazer
I'm going to give it a try with the front seat of a 2002 chevy pick up it has a small seat in the middle that folds down to a cup holder I like it because it has the 3 point seatbelt on the seat just have to anchor one end and in the middle seat the same but with no fold down cup holder should leave bout 14 in to get to 3 rd row any pics or ideas around this would be great
