Lift Kit for 87 2wd R10

I am looking for a lift kit for my 87 R10. Just looking for a small 2" lift or so. Just curious what 2WD lift options are out there. Also guessing that any lift kit will require new shocks? Just curious because i just replaced mine about a month ago. Thanks for the input!

There isn't any on the market now fab tech used to have one but its discontenuied. I've seen a few guys retro fit the 88-99 kits in but that requires a lot of work Justin76 I think did it looks great. You can also install 3/4 ton hd or 1 ton springs in for a lil boost but it will be stiff

I like the rake my old 80 big ten had a sweet rake I put some 33 15 15s on te rear and it sat sweet rode smooth in the front and would haul anything I you can be lucky enough to find a 2wd in the bone yard with the fabtech kit snag it there blue very noticeable I called them and asked why they no longer make it. They said its because no one wants it ? You mean to tell me they made these trucks from 1973 to 1990 in some cases and no one wants to lift them ? And the van stuff should be the same a fried has a 78 2wd van lifted with a fab tech kit it's sweet

There is a thread on this forum that illustrates on how to swap to later HD lower ball joints & late model uppers, which allows the use of a later 88-98 spindle. Then you can buy the 3" lift spindle for a 88-98 chevy truck. Of course, this does mean you will have to use 88-98 brakes as well, but if you are looking to replace that anyways, it might be something to consider.

Just a shot in the dark....but my brother took his 2wd Chevy Luv and added a body lift to it. Put on some mud tires and it looked like a 4WD one. That was definitely.....back in the day! 70's....

Thanks for the extra info guys. This definitely seems to fall into the "too complicated" category. If it was an easy fix i wanted to do it. I think i will just stick with the stock ride height for now.

Would running like a 1 ton coil spring give him a little bit of lift?

Throw in some big Block A/C springs in the front, and put a 3/4 ton spring pack in the rear. Toss on some tall tires on 16" wheels and you'll really change the look. My 3/4 sits a good 6" higher than my 1/2 tons.

It might ride a little stiffer because of the lighter weight on the spring, but definitely a way to do it. I do think the bigger tires, like D13 mentioned will make a difference as well.

Im not one to bring bad advice to the table, but take it or leave it. If the truck will be drivin on strictly street you could go the budget route and throw a coil spacer up front with a lift block in the rear. I know this is not ideal, and will mess with the overall geometry of your suspension, but bash all you want I have seen guys wheel the **** out of these set ups. I personally would never go this route being an offroading enthusiast but it will give you that extra inch or 2 you are looking for. I would never suggest running any more than a 2 inch spacer and block.

Bringing this back from the dead. Meant to reply sooner. My truck currently has 31" tires on it. I like the idea D13 threw out there. How much stiffer are we talking? Incredibly worse than stock? I don't mind a little stiffer ride but I don't want it to be so bad I quit driving it. I am setting this up to be a majority driver. Thanks again guys.

I actually don't have any good pics right now and currently in the middle of a motor swap. The 31's clear easy and it's stock height right now best I can tell.
