84 CC Dually, Bagged, Bodied, Under-Construction

Been lurking for a while.
Name is James.
I have my truck posted on a couple of other forums and decide I’d post a few pics here.
The kicker is, right now I’m sitting in Afghanistan and only able to see pics of what I have been working on since April. Please ask any questions.

Re: 84 CC Dually, Bagged, Bodied, Under-Construction

Truck: going to put the small square mirrors on the front doors. Thinkin of replacing the door handles with late model GM car handles. All lights will be “clear” lenses. Not the Honda race car lenses, just clear to where you have to run the red bulbs. Late model dodge dually cab lights.

Wheels: 24 inch semi

Paint: Porsche bubble gum blue with custom graphics.

Suspension: all stock front end parts with factory spindles. Pie cut uppers CA’s. rear 4-linked with cement truck “pusher” triple bags (about 4psi @ ride height and 35 psi around 18 inches of lift)

Chassis: custom frame rails from front suspension back.

Motor: 489 bbc, aluminum heads, 9.7:1 compression, roller cam, 950HP carb.

Trans: T400, 2500 stall, shift kit, Kevlar bands (looking to maybe step up to 4l80 or adding gear vendor kit) 3200rpms at 65mph..

Interior: dark tan and with light tan accents. Auto meter gauges in stock dash bezel, body color matched ring on billet steering wheel, random billet interior trim pieces.

Engine bay: custom shock mounts, graphics continue on firewall, custom inner fender wells, fender well exit 2” long tube headers, possible custom air cleaner box with ram air ducts off of core support.

:alky:

Re: 84 CC Dually, Bagged, Bodied, Under-Construction

Oh and the motor still isn’t back from the machine shop... have I mentioned how much I hate machine shops.???.

Ordered the other head today (we only ordered one so the machine shop can look over the specs/runner volumes for our build) ordered the roller rockers, pushrods, valve covers, stroker clearanced oil pan, and a set of 2” primary Chevelle headers. The Chevelle headers are supposed to fit nice and tight and not hang below the frame rails. No matter what ours will hang down below the rails due to the custom rails for the body drop. We ordered “painted” headers as we will be cutting these in half, raising the collectors and making them work for our chassis. Once all fit and finished will send them out for “thermal coating” not only for good looks, but under hood heat also.
Lots to do before WCN.. do we concentrate on Drooly, or the redo of Orado? Then after that is the trip to Showfest.. decisions..decisions..

More goodies keep showing up!! Wish I could see them. Only pictures from my wife or friends. oh-well, I only have about 80 more days here then I’ll be heading back to the good ole’ USA!!

And as an update the machine shop has the pistons and the rods put together…lol that’s really hard and time consuming, I understand now why he’s taking so long. LoL

Got some more goodies I don’t get to touch until April.. lol there is only a few pieces left such as valve covers and air cleaner set up. Thinkin of going with a custom fabricated ram air type of set-up but can’t start building that until the motor is in the truck and some sheet metal is on to see clearances and what not.
Guna be fun building this soon!!

whoot whoot...sick build!

dont like the rendering though! please stay/stick with something like a satin or flat finish with some glossy accents...that would make it baddass...

love this photo man!

Re: 84 CC Dually, Bagged, Bodied, Under-Construction

So the short block was finally picked up yesterday. Woohooo. It’s about time. Am I excited; no not really…it’s been soooo long I’m just glad it’s finally home. (I’ll still be pulling it apart to double check clearances and piston ring gaps, I am anal like that..)

My wife and a couple of buddies set the heads and intake on top for some quick pics.

Once the valve covers arrive they will sit them on, attach oil pan, sit on the carb and headers, and get some more pics.

Should look really sweet.. can’t wait for another 70 days or so till I can fire it up!!
