Thermostat Temp

Found that the thermostat in my truck was a 160 so replaced it with a 195. I have heard before that 190 or 195 is the optimum temperature because the oil is warmer and slicker and there is less wear. True?

I think the 190-195 is for later model engines but I am probably wrong.

Some people believe that the condinsation evaporates better at about 200 degrees, and therefor a better temp to run.
I run 160 degree stat becouse my engine runs 10 times better at cooler temps, and my MPG goes up.

now I know

GM spec's out the 195 in thier TPI+TBI vehicles. They designed the eng. to run in that temp. range. It's an ECM(computer) thing.
Heat does play a role but the major factor with how an oil flows is it's viscosity rateing.
Of course a warm oil flows better than a cold one but how thick it is (viscosity) plays a role too.
