67 c10 Ignition switch question
 

So I'm thinking I don't like the key to coming out while the trucks running, and we all know trucks this age tend to have some serious key wear. So I buy me a new internal assembly with keys, and put my key in the ignition, get my paper clip ready and go to turn the key to the ACC position. Nothing. Try again, nothing. It turns to the right just fine, starts the truck fine, but I can't get it to turn in the other direction.
Did they do this different in 1967? I've done this before, but it was in a 1968. Am I doing something wrong?
So I think to myself, maybe they did it different in 1967. I jamb my paper clip into the assigned hole, key in the ignition, pull, nope. I turn it to the right, enough to turn stuff on but not enough to start the engine, pull and, nope. So I try it while starting the engine. Nope. So, I try to the left again and again, wiggle, jamb, twist, darn near break the key, and still no action.

Any clues what next?

67 did not have an ACC position, so you are doing it right, put clip in and jiggle the key (in off position) to get the cylinder to come out. Straight out, no turning to the right.

I got it. Thanks. I think I had the paper clip bent too much. I put it in and felt around while pushing in and pulling out and found the pin finally. It came right out. All better now. It's nice to have feedback when you need it. Thanks!:metal:

And the key still will come out while running.Most vehicles from this era do.Some had a raised flange on the ignition switch and as long as the key was just pulled out in the "Off" position,you could start them by turning the flange.Once it went to lock,you had to have the key.

Just for clarification, even though the '67 has no accessory position you still have to turn the cylinder to the left after you push the pin in. This aligns the tabs on the cylinder with the slots in the switch housing and allows the cylinder to be removed.
