How rare is my truck?

I have always wondered how many trucks like mine were sold. Is there anywhere i can look up sales numbers like this. I have an all orange highlander with 72,000 miles and its in great driver quality, original paint no rust. I know it has to be rare because i very rarely see highlanders and on top of that have only seen a few all orange trucks it would be cool if i could put a number on it like 1 of 1,10,100,1000, so on.

GM does not have production numbers that break it down into color and options. I think the best will find is how many highlanders they made.

Does anyone know how many Highlanders were made? I googled the hell out of it and found nothing.

Was the Highlander package an option on more than just 1972 models?

Why doesn't GM have these numbers. I never understood this. I beilive they have production numbers for certain packages for camaro and corvette in the 60's and 70's.

Its a long bed with a 307. I know thats not the most desirable and I dont mean rare in a cool way, like if they made five yenko trucks with aluminum 427s. I know there were tons of options and that can make some rare. But options aside the only other orange highlander i have found online is the one in the highlander brochure. And the plaid is running the opposite direction than the other highlanders i have seen. Which i read "On the 1972 GMC only, the Chevrolet Highlander seat material was an option on their Wide-Side (fleetside) and Suburban. To give this seat insert a different appearance, than the Highlander, it appears the material was turned 90o so the stripes ran the opposite direction."

Re: How rare is my truck?

It is uncommon to find a Highlander in solid paint because the packages all came with deluxe two-tone. So,it would be a custom order to delete a part of the package. My SWB BBC Highlander was solid Ochre paint AND a 3spd. That was really rare because all three Highlander packages also included automatic transmission AND tilt, which was not possible with the 3spd. This leads me to the other rare Highlander I had...a K/20 w/4spd.

Nah, my 1991 suburban is an SLE which includes a bunch of stuff including two tone paint (and a lot of options that you could only get that way), but I didn't want two tone paint, so the sticker says Primary Color Victory Red, Accent Color Victory Red. It's probably not a delete it's probably two of the same tone two tone like mine is.

Actually Tim, After LOTS of research it turns out none of the Two-Tone paint styles were part of the Highlander packages and the plaid trim could be added to most Custom Deluxe trucks. Kind of think both of your Highlanders were trim trucks (can't find a copy of the K20's SPID) or Package A (YG6) The tilt and automatic were part of Package B(YG7). Did your solid Ochre truck have belt moldings?

Highlander Plaid was a trim only option based on Z62 or Z84 (Blazer only) optioned vehicle. In addition promo packages A,B and C were offered that bundled several options in addition to the Plaid trim. Thus a promo package truck was a Highlander but a Highlander was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck.

Highlander trim codes
All include black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console (Blazer only) and seat belts were parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific code. So the only variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers.

Yep,the Highlander package was an "options group",which gave specific options at a discounted cost, and deluxe two-tone paint was one of those options. It's an odd exception to not have it.
Your '91 Suburban is an SLE,just like all Highlanders are Custom Deluxes. You get certain features, trim, and options on "all" SLEs,just like "all" Custom Deluxes. Then, there are the options each individual SLE or Custom Deluxe was ordered with. Two-tone paint was a feature of SLEs but you could opt for solid paint. That's what I did on my '92 K3500 SLE that I ordered. But there were option groups, just like what the Highlander pkg was, that gave a savings for a specific group of options. Like I wanted tilt,A/C,and a good stereo, but got groups that includes cruise,p/w,pdl,and other things I wasn't concerned with but were basically free with the package savings.
