Flutter sound Question

I have had a flutter sound in my motor recently. I did replace the carb to no avail. It has that sound like when you get cheap gas. I did fill up with premium, but it still flutters. I adjusted timing, but still there. I have put octane booster and racing fuel in it and it still flutters. I get the feeling the old truck needs a valve job.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Flutter sound Question

Can you be more specific on the noise, the word "flutter" is pretty vague.

Details on the truck, and engine would be helpful as well.

Re: Flutter sound Question

If it's really old... it's probably telling you it's time for a rebuild. Could be a cam going flat.
