When I bought the truck they were installed already. It just happened yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to start ripping it apart yet. Didn't see any markings though. I'm just glad it happened backing out of a parking space and not going 60 mph.

Drop spindles.

Might just be me but they don't look like drop spindles. Pin appears to be centered in the spindle.

Standard spindles have the pin at the bottom.
It was hard to tell for me,... with out seeing the outer tie rod.

Do you guys have any brand recommendations? No way I'm just going to replace the broken side and trust the other one.

Belltech, McGaughy's, Western Chassis.
What year truck?

Re: Broken drop spindle

I would suggest Bell tech or Mcgaughys. Not the cheapest but both are quality.

Truck is an 84. Truck has belltech shackles and hangers on the back. Wish I can find a marking on the spindles.

Re: Broken drop spindle

Belltech and Western Chassis has their name cast right into the spindle.
So does CPP.
I bet these are airbagit.com or some other junk.
What did the bearings look like?

If you order spindles,... just remember there are 2 different 73-87 spindles.
Measure the width of your rotor.
They will be 1" or 1-1/4" wide.
You will have to order the spindle to match the rotor.

Bearings are still in rotor, greased and spinning free. I'm going out not to take the dust cover off and see if I can find out what they are. Sucks not having a garage when it's snowing.

I use Western Chassis on my truck. I drive it hard too. No problems.

I'll be sure to think of this thread the next time my speedo is buried at 85mph...

Look at the back of the spindle for a name or markings also.

Looks like a Chassis Tech spindles imo. I've never had a spindle breakage problem with any of the brands thankfully.

Wow that sucks! Can you see any evidence of a casting defect? I'd really like to know who's spindle this is as well...
