rear end gear swap?
 

I'm looking to replace my rear end gears. I've got a '64 gmc 1/2 ton with a dana 44 rear end. Its got 3.92 on there now and I want to replace it with ~3.54 or so. But, i've been told that the 3.92 carrier won't take any smaller gears - I can only go up without replacing the whole carrier.

anybody know anythign about this??
