WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
I'm getting ready to swap out my HO52 4.10's for a Dana 60 3.54's. In my reading up on this swap, it appears I need a different frame mount for the track bar.

Re: WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
Did any of the coil spring trucks come with a DANA 60? I think you'll have to make a bracket to mount the track bar to the trailing arm/axle mount. If you have the Axle end mount, can you show a pic. I'm looking to swap my leafs for trailing arms and bags with a Dana 60. Mines a 3.54 also.

Check with Jeremiah King or Teeitup, anyone that parts out these trucks on a regular basis. The brackets are often left behind when rears and bars are removed since they're a bit of a pain to grind the frame rivets off. Just as the HO, D60 and 12 bolt panhard bars are all different, I seem to remember their respective frame mounting brackets being different as well. Most guys missing them just run an aftermarket adjustable bar, which comes with its own upper and lower mounting brackets.

I also have a 67 C20 coil spring pickup box trailer here with a HO52 in it. I can compare brackets if nobody chimes in with the answer. |

I have a 72 big block truck with the coil spring dana, but it will be at least a month before I get to it.

Re: WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
I installed a 3.54 Dana 60 possi in one of my old 67 chevys that originaly had a corperate 10 bolt. It was a 2 wheel drive and had the coil spring rear end. I had to use the pan hard bar from the Dana, but I used the original frame bracket on the 67. Didn't have any problems, it just bolted wright up. I of coarse had to have the rear driveshaft shortened and the whole driveline reballanced. WES

Re: WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
What's to be confused about? It should bolt wright up. It did for my 67 C/20. Driveline was my only modification that I had to make. Well and I had to use the panhard bar from the donor truck. (it was a 72 BB suburban) I also stuck the 67's rear end back in the suburban and used the 67s old pan hard bar. WES

Re: WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
700R4 and 3:54's? I hope you are not running large tires and that you have an engine with good torque numbers. You'll be ok with the low 1st gear but OD could be lugging the engine unless your unloaded. May tow at a pretty nice rpm though if you leave in 3rd. Curious what tire size and engine specs you have as I am contemplating using my 3:54 D60 for something other than trailer duty.

Re: WTB Dana 60 track bar frame mount
I'm running 2005 5.3 and 4l60e with my Dana 60, 3.54 gears. I tow a 1968 Airstream weighing 5000 lbs and a 700 lb motorcycle in the bed, no problems. 31 inch tall tires also. No lugging problems. I usually tow in overdrive except when hitting the hills. Run an auxilliary tranny cooler with the radiator cooler also. Can someone post pics when they have time of the Dana 60 with coils and the bar mounts at axle and frame. Hope I'm not jacking your thread ScottG, just trying to keep info in one place. Good luck. Jim
