65 chevy 3/4 ton what motor?
 
I am looking at a 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton 65 I believe 64 or 65 not sure which dont have a title and couldnt get the guy to understand where the vin tag was anyhow I have seen some pictures of it, it has a 6 cylinder in it what motor is this more than likely? 292?

292 oil filters come out at a 90 degree angle to the block. 230's and 250's angle downward. That's the easiest way to tell I've found. I think there's something about the number of bolts on the tappet covers also but not sure exactly what. Hopefully someone else will step in here with that info.

also, the 292 motor is taller. the side covers on the motor are taller than the 230/250. If you've ever seen both, it's pretty obvious. If you've not seen both I guess it might be hard to recognize the difference. I don't have one around here to give you a height measurement on those side covers, but maybe someone can.

Its got 8 bolt wheels and has 20 emblems on the side

to what i have learn over the years of restoring my truck is the 292 has of set motor mounts while the 230/250 had them strait across

This is how I quickly ID between a 230/250 and a 292. On the 292 the passenger side motor mount is farther forward, in between the distributor and the fuel pump.
