Camshafts

What is the best camshaft to use? I'm not looking for anything real radical, just something low RPM.

One that i like for a daily driver/hauler, is a Crane Energizer 266. I run 1 in the 355 in my plow truck......stock type idle, & plenty of low end grunt. You might also look at the Comp HE 260. If you are building more for perf, the XE cams are good performers, but you should have lower rear gears, & a looser converter(2500 stall is about right for the XE 268). Good luck, crazyL:burnout:

Call or email Comp Cams and provide all your information, vehicle, weight, rear gears, transmission, engine displacement, engine year (roller or flat tappet), carb, intake, heads and above all the intended use. They can make a good suggestion then. They suggested one of their 4x4 Extreme (2wd truck) for mine and what little bit I've been able to drive, it has lots of grunt and reasonable idle.

Ditto on the Comp Cam 268, works well in my 400 anyway (mucho torque:D )
