Brake Line Questions

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and joined a few months ago. I have done a lot of reading here and it has definitely been helpful. I haven't posted anything yet but I'll show the work I've done in a new thread sometime soon.

But anyway, I have an 84 GMC Stepside that I have been restoring for the past couple of years. Finally I have been making good progress and got a nice frame that I had sandblasted and painted. I'm in the process of ordering brake lines, fuel lines, and bushings since I have easy access to everything frame related...

Here's some questions I would appreciate being considered:

Where is the factory location of the prop valve?

I think I'm going to order from Inline Tube, and I'm assuming their brake lines are just like factory?

I'm considering the brake booster/master cylinder as a kit from Performance Online. Included is the prop valve but I don't think it's in the factory location. I tried calling the other day but they didn't seem to answer my question. Here's the link: http://www.performanceonline.com/197...ter-Kit-19847/

Not sure if I should just order the proportioning valve separately.

Thanks for reading this, had to get it off my mind.

Re: Brake Line Questions

The proportioning valve is located on the very front crossmember (under the fan shroud).

Aftermarket Booster/MC/Prop kits are JUNK, Stick with the factory stuff.

Inline tube is pretty good & will send line for the factory Prop. valve location.

Ok thanks for the reply. Is there somewhere that I can get a new factory booster and master cylinder or would you recommend getting the factory units rebuilt?

If your Booster is bad, Just buy a reman one, A new MC will be readily available at any parts store....Do not buy a reman master cylinder.

And do you recommend getting a reman prop valve or Inline Tube makes their own...

Try your local Chevy dealer first, Have the VIN handy, At Least get a part # so you look online for one.

Unless I need it now I buy almost all my parts from rockauto.com sometimes you get a wholesaler close out on and item and get it dirt cheap but just about everything they have is priced very reasonable
