Writing a new book about Squarebody C10 series

Its amazing how much detailed information is on here about '73-87 C10 pickups. I'm sure glad I know about this board because without it I wouldn't be able to do nearly as good a job on the new Squarebody book I'm getting ready to start writing.

It's intended to be a complete guide with a lot more intense look than I'm able write about in Custom Classic Trucks, and Classic Trucks. if anyone has specific areas they'd like to see covered in the book please let me know. In the next couple of weeks I'll be drafting the outline.

Thanks you guys,

John G.

Doesn't matter what it will cover, I'll buy it.

What categories are you thinking? Will it be more of a how-to guide or something that details the changes over the years to the trucks?

Very cool, I'm in. I really appreciate your effort to document this hobby of ours. I would definitely make sure you get in touch with Keith Seymour.

Why would you limit it to a C10?

I think it would be cool if you covered the C/K 10/30 and the C60's and other big trucks :)

i want to know who, exactly---as in names, designed this series of trucks. i want to know all about these wonderful people.

i want to know their backgrounds. What caused them to be so creative?

And then I'll know who to gripe at about the lack of a tach, and the whole fuel gauge debacle. lol

Maybe you can explain how during the worst era for cars (73-87)...The coolest trucks were born.

A how-to guide. I'm going to start out with a bare frame, and work up. The focus will be on body & paint, fabricating.

As heavy a focus on the changes through the years, and a list of available options as possible. I really want to end up with a comprehensive a chart we can all refer to.

From right now its going to be over 18-months before it hits the stand. I'll do my best to get a couple of fully-restored, and maybe a mint survivor in.

I love every form of these trucks there is, including those crazy squarebody vans in South America, but I need to keep the focus on C10 to do a complete job in 200 pages.

But we'll see what crops up, its not written yet.

Yes, it would be cool, but that's way too big a chunk for 200 pages... maybe some pics of what other forms the Square took.

This will be a major chapter with charts, and words... lots of words.

I totally agree, I love finding out about all those things. Hopefully as a group we can dig it all up and get it in there.

That's a really interesting way to look at it. With a 15 year production run the Squarebody is truly an amazing series.
