What are you running for a carb on your BBC 60-66??

I'm currently running a Holley 650 double pumper on my 454 in my 64. It has about 10 years since its last full rebuild. Currently, if I drive it really easy on the highway, i get about 10 mpg. In town lucky to get 5. It's starting to have drivability issues and an occasional leak. I've heard Edelbrock is more reliable and driver friendly with better milege. My question is.... Do I rebuild the Holley again or buy a new Edelbrock? If new, what cfm? Any tweaking as far as metering rods? I'm in Central Cal closer to sea level.

I run a Quick Fuel Q-Series 750 Double Pumper on my BBC, you couldn't give me a Edelbrock carb.

I've currently got a Holley 3310-1 (780 cfm) on my 454. It's probably a little big, but it's what I had at the time. I had plans of changing to a Holley Street Avenger 670, but I got a deal on a EFI setup, so I'll be going that route evetually.

I prefer Holley's over Edelbrocks. The Holley's are so much easier to tune for me.

if your carb has 10 years on it, id buy another one. reason being, the throttle plate shafts are probably worn.

ease of maintenance/tuning the edlebrokc carb.

but in my eyes you cant beat a holley... but many people will say this about a Q'jet as well.

Not sure if Holley and others do this as well but Edelbrock has some pretty good YouTube videos for tuning and rebuilding their carbs online. More of an FYI than a recommendation.

I went with a Quick Fuel. I think I will be able to pass everything except a gas station.
