it appears to me that it is the stock cap, steel instead of aluminum like many are made today.

I'm looking for an original GM paintable cap as well, I think this is the one we need is GM P/N 3914958 they're still available... $21 with shipping from GM parts direct..

I had one of those on my 66 that I sold. I dont know if they are 66 only or what, but i have a few of the one ring caps.

Okay Mike, give us the scoop What's so special about the paintable cap with the extra ring? Was it only on a 66? are you tring to match an auxilliary tank or two maybe? Am I being too nosy? :-)

this was the stock cap from 1966 the others that gm sells is slightly different . I attach a 1966 ad that shows the cap

Interesting subject Mike. Out at the Lambrecht auction we saw these same caps on 1965s also, the New trucks.
