Can I see your tachometer???
I am fortunate enough to have a factory indash tach. Problem is my new motor will spin to a little over 6K. I've never been a real big fan of one modern gauge with all the factory gauges. Need to do something though. I have a floor shift so mounting on the column is an option too. Maybe to help clarify, I don't need pics of your killer $500 aftermarket gauge set. Really just looking for pics of someone that added an aftermarket tach only to their cab. Thanks!

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
I think you can get an 8k factory styled tach from LMC.

Yup...conversion kit is $350 http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=100 |
Re: Can I see your tachometer???
Since I already have the factory tach dash, I don't need the bezel or wiring thing. Do they sell just the 8 grand tach?
|
Re: Can I see your tachometer???
Classic Industries has a nice conversion kit for $299 but I would just need the tach.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
I don't think you can get the tach and lens alone.

The Po. put this tach. in my truck. But it did not go all the way in, and everything in the cab was painted the same color. The lens was already cut for the tach to fit. What I did was to cut the back tin so the tach would fit flush with the bezel, make a new cover for the back. Replace printed circuit with tach type ( because it is longer ) push tach into bezel and done.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
There are guys on here that could build you a nice restored cluster at a good price. I would post a wanted to buy ad in the parts section.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
Have you seen my truck? It's not exactly "restored" worthy. lol
|
Re: Can I see your tachometer???
Well we all have to start with something so why not the one part you see the most in your truck...lol

Believe me.......when I'm driving, that's not what I see the most!

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
That thing look's like fun.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
I was just looking at your build thread and seen your one pic you still have up. That is a very nice truck and it looks fun to play with. I would still just up grade to the 8g factory looking tach, but thats just me.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
Believe me....I am huge on things looking sanitary and that's why I'm wanting to see what others have done. The other thing that hit me is that the bezel would have to be changed anyway because mine only goes to 5K. I guess I need to think outside of the box and realize that I can sell my bezel and tach to someone that doesn't have one at all! Will help make the cash layout not so bad. This is a budget build that has failed! lol
I need to still replace all the pics I lost in my "sorta build thread". Moved a folder in photobucket and lost them all. I've been spending most of my time posting to my 496 build thread that is at the top of my signature. |
Re: Can I see your tachometer???
You can keep your bezel and just change the lens and tach out.

What I did, I like it on the column like this reminds me back when I was a little kid and our 70 had one on the column like it.

i'm trying to load a pic of mine. the PO installed it...not a professional installation, but better than the steering wheel and dash pad he put in!

Re: Can I see your tachometer???
I have the complete cluster in my 71 truck but you can buy the gauges seperate if you like. I placed all there gauges inside the factory dash.
They have some really neat stuff to.;):chevy: www.speedhut.com |

Dang......that looks real close to a factory look. I dig that! That looks like a 70-73 Z/28 tach! PS...then again they didn't have a 4,700 redline. It was closer to 5,500-6,000 depending on the year. The 70 was the high one. What kind of Camaro was that out of? Thanks for posting. |
Re: Can I see your tachometer???
I added an AutoMeter tach in mine. It "hides" enough that it's not the first thing you see but does what I need.
