I guess the bolt sheared off first, probabbly before I owned it and caused the shackle to fail making for a "fun" ride. What one do I need? Its a 79 c30 cab and chassis. Does it have to be a 1 ton? or will any of them work from a half ton?. does it have to be a 1 ton cab and chassis??? I have no idea.

Looking at the shackles on rockauto, they have them listed for 9 or 10 leaf spring pacs. I have 13 leafs in each pack... i dunno what one to order.

In this pic, the middle one is a factory half ton shackle.

what i was reading is that the 1 tons MAY have a 1.75 spring eye instead of the 1.50 spring eye of the 1/2 tons. I am not sure if this makes a difference but I do know that they list TWO different rear shackles on rockauto. And they only say one is heavy duty one isnt. I'm not sure. I will pull whats left of my broken shackle and try and match it up I guess.

It was empty BUT its been loaded down heavy and use to have a wrecker body on the back with a boom before I got it. Now it has a flatbed on it. So who knows how long the nut end of the bolt was sheered off. It probabbly took a while for the shackle to bust off.

id check at a junk yard if u cant find any new they were probably the same up to 91 for the one ton , i dont know about the eye but my springs commercial 81 C&C and 85 k35 pick up are both 2 inches wide i guess where the bolt goes it must be the same witdh

You have a 10 pack of springs w/3 added. The ones circled in red have been added.

Someone has had the bolt loose at sometime because that nut is a looking nut and should never come loose. My opinion is that the nut should have been replaced when removed as the locking feature is damaged when the nut is removed. You can see evidence of the loose nut in the rusted area circled in yellow...

IMPORTANT!!!! You should check the otherside...if one side has been loose, the other has most likely been loose also!
