96 chev low gauge voltage
 

I have a new truck and its got me stumped dash gauge reads only 10 volts when running. I checked battery reads 12.56volts sitting there 14.5 when running and the output comming out of the alternator large red wire reads 14.5 volts. Not sure where to go next. I installed all new ground wires also. Origanals were rotted off.

Have you pulled the instrument panel and cleaned the elctrical contacts between the instrument panel and the electrical wiring harness? I had som e issues with my 91 and the eradouts that I was getting and when I did this, the readings were more in line with what I had outside the cab.

Good to know. Thanks... I am now currently having trouble starting truck. Do you think ground wire not making good enough contact? I have a fully charge battery. Maybe this could be the reason for low gauge voltage?

The 96 and up Chevys with the stacked positive cables are famous for haveing a bad connection at the battery, even if it seams tight it can be a poor connection. There are new spacers availabe that go betwwen the cables, put one of them, maybe a new bold and clean the ends real good ant that should help if not fix your starting problem.
