stumped????
2 Attachment(s)
We are in the process of pulling the inline 6 for the new power plant and came upon these two little items .....can anyone clue us in on what they are.....
the first pic is a sensor of some sort on the block above the starter......the second pic is a sensor or something in the brake proportioning valve.... thank you all in advance../.. |
Re: stumped????
the one on the block is your oil pressure sending unit, the one on the brake distribution valve is for the brake warning light on the dash

Re: stumped????
Thank you Livrat....i understand theoil pressure but what about the brake sensor....would that let you know if the fluid was low or something like that???
|
Re: stumped????
the brake switch will let you know low fluid or air in the line. it is set off when there is not enough pressure in the lines

Re: stumped????
Thank you so much...

The reason for that is the brakes would still stop the truck yet the driver might not notice only half the brakes are working. If it were simply "not enough pressure in the lines" you would already know - your screaming passengers and the sound of bending metal  |

gotcha ma man.....

Re: stumped????
yes if the back brakes dont have enough fluid the pressure in the lines will be lower allowing the switch to trip letting you know something is wrong but the front brakes will still stop you. if the front brakes are low on fluid the pressure in the front lines is low allowing the switch to trip letting you know but the back brakes can still stop you. i didnt mean all lines at the same time. hopefully you would know something is wrong long before that would happen
