I ran across another item on the truck that has me stumped....it is near the intake.....thank you all for letting me rely upon you all...

head temp sensor. Prolly runs an idiot light to tell you of an overheating scenario

The previous reply seems correct to me. It looks like the water temperature sensor on the driver's side of the motor. It also looks like its not just the idiot light type, but rather the type that sends the signal to your temperature gauge on the panel.
