Free- 292 engine
 

Free 292 engine. It developed a rod knock and I stopped using it. It had no problems except for the rod knock. It comes with all brackets, alternator, carb, manifold (intake and exhaust), and I'll even through in the exhaust pipes if you want them. I don't want to part it out. I will pull it out of the truck if you come and get it. I can post pictures upon request.

what would shipping be on that rig and what kind of factory ho and tq #'s did a 292 produce dont know any thing about them never hurd of one so v8 or v6

Brad, just a thought for you. I was talking to my machinist and he was telling me that the 6's are actually pulling a higher core charge than 350's. He said that the engine rebuild shops will even buy a good core outright. Apparently, the laws of supply and demand are in place here. There are lots of 350's out there but not as many old inline 6's.

This engine is an Inline 6. I am not sure of any Hp or Tq numbers, But my brother has a I-6 302 in his military GMC that i am pretty sure is in the same family as the 292 and it's got a TON of tourqe, but is a little low on the horsepower.

Low69c10- It gets 170hp at 4000rpm and 275 ftlbs at 1600 rpm. I really don't want to have to deal with shipping.

Breeh- thanks for the information. Do you mean any type of machine shop. Up town there is a Napa store that runs a machine shop out of the back, do you think a place like that would be interested? Do you think the fact that it has a rod knock will make a big difference in price to them?

I would go and talk to them. They could at least refer you to one of the rebuild operations in your area.
