60/40 bench seat swap.

I got to have one of these for my truck, and I know any seat from the later model truck needs work to make fit.

So has anyone done a write up on how they made the later model truck seat fit? Especially the 60/40 type. I know it is a 2 piece bench seat, and would require mods to be secured to my floor plan.

This is on a truck I had years ago. We formed a piece of strap metal to the floor. Then we cut the bracket on the late model seat to fit the strap and welded the strap to the bracket.

The inside bracket had to be extended a bit:

Here is a picture of the seat.

How do you like them?

Do you find they work as well in your truck as the later model?

I liked them. I think those seats were from a 98' model. I sold the truck a few years ago. If i ran across another nice set of those seats I would consider doing it again in the truck I have now.

How was the width of that seat? Ive seen some aftermarket split seats that the seat bottom was formed and put the driver too close to the door and not in front of the steering wheel.

I didn't notice any problem with the width.

I didn't have the motor for the power seats. I had a manual slide mechanism on it just like the original bench seat. I don't see any reason the power wouldn't work just fine If you have the motor. I always wanted to get the power working, but never got around to it.

I think the room behind the seat was about the same as the original bench.

Did they sit up higher and did you have leg room?

I have a chance to pic up these seats for $75. They match the garnet red interiors well and IMO are the most comfortable truck seats made after putting a couple of hundred thousand miles on a set. I'm not scared of the fabricating to make them work, it's just that my stock seat is in great shape. If it's not broke, don't fix it right? But I could use the extra leg room and I like the idea of having a more firm bucketed seat. I'm tempted...

What do ya'll think?

Hello,
I'm looking for those seats. Any chance you are not going to use them? I'm converting my 91' with buckets and console over to 60/40 if I can find them in red. It's for a good cause, I really like my wife.
Thanks, Bob

I have a set of 60/40 sets like the red ones. They are brown and need to be blue to match my 68 stepside. I have heard the cloth is glued to the foam. Do you know how to re-cover them?

Thanks-Mika

Go for it. I have the same set in my 74 in light gray. They are comfortable.

I'm looking for those very seats. Any chance you are not going to use them and will sell them to me?

Thanks, Bob
