stepside filler neck

Hey everyone, I have a 1985 Chevy k10 stepside and the guy who owned it before me was a total hack so I'm in the process of fixing just about everything on the truck. The filler neck for the gas tank doesn't seem correct, it sits down low in the fender and when I went to install a new filler neck housing (plastic piece that holds the neck in place to the fender) it didn't fit right. I've looked through a bunch of websites and can"t find a new neck for stepsides, they're all made for fleet sides. Has anyone had luck finding stepside filler necks other than getting really lucky at a junk yard? Thanks for any help you can give me!

I went through this same problem. I could not find anyone that makes the filler hose for the stepside. I do have the metal neck and plastic piece. I compared it to a fleet side setup and they are a little different. I ended up buying some new hose and making it work. I will get you the part number for the hose if you need it.

Here is a picture. I basically used three 90 degree hoses and put them together with galvanized conduit that fit tightly in the hose. The hose is Gates Gas Filler Neck hose part no. 24716. It's just an L shaped hose. You would need 3 of them to do what I did. I had a couple of pieces of hose already that came from a fleetside truck that I used with the new hose.

I had to hack mine together, but it's been working fine for over 1.5 years. I used a stock fleetside hose, a steel coupler, and a section of lower radiator hose from a V6 Celebrity. I know the radiator hose isn't rated for fuel, but it should last until correct reproduction filler hoses are available.
