dual gas tank conversion from single-.
Hello everyone I ran across Swb frame at has dual tanks and I would like to go ahead and put them on my truck. Any advice one what a friend and I need to pay attention to or an easy way to do this? or should I just buy a suburban tank and relocate it to the rear?

Why would you want dual tanks? Thinking of making a long trip across country? I have dual tanks on my 86 and just use the driver side. If you have dual tanks and you must be thinking of using one when the other runs low then you would have to fill both tanks and that is $$$ these days. But other than that, can not help you. MO

I put duals on mine just because I buy my fuel in Michigan (3.20 per gallon) vs Ontario (4.40 per gallon) also to ensure that the new springs settle evenly. Instead of messing with the fuel lines I just used the feed line on the sending unit of the drivers tank and tied into the filler vent line on the passenger side of the truck with a fuel transfer pump.

I did it years ago because I used to drive a long ways to work, and didn't like filling up every other day. It was a bit annoying to fill up, but not a big deal. I was able to use a second rcsb tank with parts I grabbed off a rclb C20 since they usually have it by comparison.
When I did the conversion I used write on lable's to mark where everything went, and drew a map for when I did it at home. I really liked it on road trips because I could cruise over 600 miles before I needed to gas up. |
