vin check

i bought a 2001 chevy z71 with 75000 miles, i think the odometer was replaced or rolled back since there is a lot of wear on the truck to be 75000 miles, can any one run the vin, i guess some people have unlimited free vin checks. 1GCEK19T61E128458, THANKS

its a 2001 you cant just replace or roll back odometers like the old days.

its set by the computer.

look at your title, how many miles does your title say your truck has?

title say 64000 in 2009, i was told that u can replace the cluster and whatever the used cluster had on the old car. it will display those miles, is a scam to sale it with a better price

I don't think that's true anymore. The speedometer log is stored in the computer now. I've known a few that replaced their cluster and the mileage remained unchanged.

What kind of wear are you seeing? Where did the truck come from? Maybe it was a work type truck and got used harder than normal.....

i feel better now, just water pump is about to go and a powers stearing leaking, seat torn. just sounded too good to be true. i paid 6800 is ext cab 4x4, new rims and oversize tires, he said that didnt drive it for a year because a DUI, but maybe is just normal wear. even if miles were higher truck runs real good.

sounds like it just had a lot more short trips vs. long ones. I have 101k on my 04' and my seats are in great shape still. If yours are worn, probably just a lot of in and out.

Keep your eye on fuel pump too and don't be surprised if it goes out..... just the way it is for these trucks.

Re: vin check

the mileage is store in the cluster on these trucks when i order replacement clusters For these trucks i have to provide the Vin and the mileage so it can be programed into the new cluster, then when i install the clusters i have to sign an affidavit saying that i did not provide the wrong mileage or change it when i ordered the new clusters
