03-07 3500 Rearend differances

A couple of questions from a 73-87 guy...

What is the differance between a 6 speed manual and an automatic rearend in the 3500 series trucks?

What is the lenght differace between a cab & chassis rearend rearend with and without the ZW9 (wide track) option code?

Background... I am looking to upgrade the rearend in my 87 V30 Cab and chassis truck to disk. I realize its not a complete bolt up... but good upgrades are never are!

Thanks in advance!!! Eric

Tranny makes no difference. Wide track is a normal dually rear, non wide track is cab width.

I would want to agree with you on the transmission... however the interchange asks 6-Speed or automatic, so there must be a differance. I do know on the Dodge trucks, automatics use a Dana 70, the manual trucks use a Dana 80...

I knew that about Cummins trucks but I'm pretty sure that's not the case for Chevy's.

I revisiting this for another reason... Any new idea on this?

This time I am looking at a 03 Pickup bed truck and want to install a narrower rearend to clear a c&c bed that has been installed... Can you see the tires hanging outside the bed way too much!

On second thought it might be cheaper just to take the truck to the welding shop and have them add fenders! Lol! :)
