Bed to cab gap???

Can someone please tell me what the gap between the bed and the cab is supposed to be approximately??? I am mounting a newer bed and having to fab my own mounts for it to sit on the frame (I am going to do a write up on it once I am done as there hasnt truly been one as of yet), but not sure as to the distance between the cab and the bed...

Roughly one inch (...based on experience).

Re: Bed to cab gap???

I just searched for this not too long ago. I seen people were saying they were using 1/2 and 3/4 gap but they were worried about flex and the bed hitting the cab. Don't know if they're vehicle were trailer queens or not. I also seen others that were daily drivers saying 1 1/2 to 2 inch on the gap. I never could find anywhere that said what the factory spec was. Post back up if you find that out I'd be curious to know...

Well as it stands I set the bed down on the frame and put it at roughly 1/2" and I too am worried about the flex and hitting the cab. I am thinking that if I move the bed so that the mount holes on the newer bed are parallel with the front mounting holes on the frame then it would have roughly 1" gap. Im going to do that today and see what it looks like. If it looks good then I will just drill and mount like that. I measured my 1 ton Dodge Dually and it has roughly 1" gap between the bed and cab and I know it flexes way more than the 67 ever should...

Oh and because I know.....

:wop:

This is me mounting the bed (without any help)

hahaha.. that looks like some of my one man garage ingenuity. :-)

Keith Seymore's post about "roughly 1in" sounds good and his sig says he works at the Chevy plant so I figure he'd know if anyone did.
