Need source for bed

Howdy all, this is my first post. Heres what I need. A source for replacement beds. I did know of a place that did them but they are no longer in business. I think the beds were remakes from Taiwan, they did fenders, doors etc, too. It's a fleetside short bed with dual tanks Rh and LH. Any ideas?

welcome to the board try LMC chevy duty and year opne all have sites and all have catalogues you could try other auto body supply houses too

I checked at LMC but I only saw bed side panels, not complete beds. What are some other companies?

You can either replace the sides or look for a new box.Probaly cheaper to replace the whole thing that is if you can even find one for it.

Ya.. Unfortunetly, it has been impossible to find a dual tank shortbed! And at that, I have not seen both replacement sides (RH and LH) with square fuel door openings.. Ugh.. well, maybe some body work will be needed then, I was hoping to not have to.

That,s what makes restoring so much fun.The initial truck is the cheapest and it all starts to add up from there

ItsRusty 06-11-2003 03:22 PM

LOL.. I know what you mean. I was hopping I could do this by 'bolt-on' only :)

See, the driveline is already set up. The suspension is brand new as well, even the tires. But the body needs work. There is nothing but surface rust and dents but still, it needs replacement. Oh well..

try e-bay...thay have some on there from time to time. Also, check your local classifieds or swap meets...thay are a good source as well. A word of advice, try to get actual GM parts, much better quality and fit. They typically run more $$, but to me it is far outweighes by the finished product.

Oh...Welcome! :)

Yes but you have to even watch that.I went to a goodmark dealer they recommended here in Canada and the dealer tried to unload some Taiwan POS on me that wasn,t even Goodmark.
Turns out they stock other brands and only sell Goodmark on pieces they can,t get elsewhere..ex:cowl induction hoods

Try www.ClassicIndustries.com and order a catalog. I purchased a new bed floor, wheel houses, and front bed panel from them not too long ago. Very happy with the quality and finish. :)

There is a really nice rust-free short box in a yard here that came up from Oklahoma. :bowtie:

ItsRusty 06-12-2003 12:58 PM

Is that dual tank short bed for sale?

ItsRusty, you may want to add your location in your profile so people can tell what area your in. It helps when trying to find parts for people. :)
