disk brake conversion
 
if i add disk brakes to the rear inplace of the drum brakes do i need to change anything up front or in the brake lines?

You'll need to change your master cylinder or add a new proportioning valve.

Then you'll need the caliper lines for the calipers, and they often can work with minor tweaking to your existing brake lines on the axle.

Now on my k20 there is a valve mechanism that conects to the axle that i guess tells the brakes how hard to engage depending on the weight(not mechanically) is there anyway to take this mechanism out or will it affect it? when my dad gave me the truck he said that a mechanic shop took the piece out and the brakes would look up immedietly so they had to instale a new mechanism
