Did GM Ever Make this Truck???

Question for the experts: 1986 crew cab long bed single rear wheel, yes I know they made these trucks but what about with these options

Corporate 14 rear
GM front (not dana 60)
Single fuel tank
small block
700 r transmission

Ive never seen one with these options, trying to determine if someone put it together or if its factory.

Thanks in advance

David

easiest thing to do is look at the build sheet and compare to whats there

Here's the information packet from the GM Heritage Center archive for an '86 Chevy pickup:

I'm not seeing an overdrive automatic in the one tons, so someone may have stuck that in there, but everything else seems to be available.

As Bob suggests probably easiest to look at the SPID label (service label) in the glovebox if it's still there.

Lastly, if you are really desperate, you can send the VIN and $50 to the GM Heritage Center and they will send you the actual invoice (RPOs and pricing) for that specific truck.

Thanks for the info guys, ive been looking at pictures and description of this truck and those were some of the differences this truck had vs almost all of the other crew cabs ive looked at. Im in the market for one but wanted the dana the corporate and the 205 transfer case. Is the info in the glove box listed as codes as the later models are or are the specs spelled out?

I have actually never seen a stock crew cab 4x4 without a front Dana 60. Sounds like someone did a swap job and swiped the front axle. The 700R4 sounds like a possible swap job as well. I am not aware of any overdrive transmissions in 1 tons until 1991 when the rare 4L80E appeared in the square Crew Cabs and ¾ ton Suburban’s.

I suspect it is the same as '87 (which mine is), meaning it will show the RPO code and a brief noun name description.

I bet its a 2wd someone converted to 4x4. That or someone stole the 60 out of and swapped to overdrive. 1991 got the 4l80 but not any earlier as far as I know.

Could it have the NP205 behind the 700r trans?

which transfer case would it most likely have behind the 700R?

An aluminum 208 or 241. Both look about the same.

They also made factory 3/4 ton 4x4 crew cabs, which explains the overdrive tranny, small block, and 10 bolt front axle. That's what I'm guessing.

Negative - no 4x4 3/4 ton crew in '86. 3/4 ton crew was available in 2wd only.

See page 15 (page 15 of the original; page 17 of the .pdf):

Someone certainly could have scammed those items out of a regular cab 3/4 ton 4x4 and stuck them in there, though.
